Updated as of 5 December 2024

We’ve heard your feedback and the challenges faced in creating listings due to the recent Facility Listings, the Locations Database and the New Listing Update. We’ve implemented enhancements and fixes to improve your listing creation experience. Below are the updated information and FAQs for your reference:

Township Requirements

Will the “Township” field be mandatory for agents?

Yes, the “Township” field is mandatory.

What happens if my listing is not in any township?

If your listing is not in a township:

You can select the checkbox labelled "My listing is not in any township."

Once selected, the Township field will be disabled, and no input will be required.

Please note: The Township drop-down list will only be populated after both the State and City have been selected. Do not select the checkbox if your listing is in a township.

What if my listing township is not included in the suggestion list?

We are reintroducing the "Other" Option.

What is the "Other" option in the Township field?

Choosing the "Other" option allows agents to enter the name of a town that is not already listed.

How will the "Other" option appear in the suggestion list?

The "Other" option will always appear at the bottom of the suggestion list. As you type, the list will narrow down suggestions, and "Other" will remain available if no matches are found.

What happens if I select "Other"?

When "Other" is selected, you can input a custom township name, subject to the following rules:

1.Restricted Words

Words like "downpayment," "rent," or "luxury" are not allowed.

If a restricted word is entered, an error message will appear: “Please enter only the township name.”

2.Avoid Repeated Words

Duplicate entries (e.g., "Kuala Lumpur Kuala Lumpur") are not allowed.

If this occurs, an error message will appear: “You do not need to repeat the township name twice.”

3.Character Limit

Input is limited to 50 characters.

If exceeded, an error message will appear: “Please limit your input to 50 characters.”

Example:

Important Notes:
  • If an agent selects the "Other" option from the Township list, the listing will not be eligible for Cross-Listing.
  • If an agent checks the "My listing is not in any township" checkbox, the listing will also not be eligible for Cross-Listing.

The Cross-Listing checkbox will not be shown in Step 4 before you publish your listing:

What is Cross-Listing? A feature designed for agents subscribed to both PropertyGuru and iProperty Malaysia. It allows you to seamlessly duplicate your listings between the platforms—whether from PropertyGuru AgentNet to iProperty PRO or vice versa—making your listing process more efficient. Learn More
Starting 28 October 2024, we are introducing improvements to the facility listings, location database, and listing creation flow. These updates are designed to enhance listing accuracy and provide a better experience for property seekers. In addition, Dynamic Pricing will be applied to new listings posted on iProperty.com.my.

Facility Listings, Locations Database, and New Listing Creation Flow Update

What changes are being made to location accuracy?

We are improving the accuracy of our location data by updating city classifications and introducing the concept of a township for better precision in listings.

What is the facility list consolidation about?

Facility lists will be consolidated and made more intuitive. For example, 'Laundry' will now be listed as 'Launderette,' and 'Retail stores' will be categorized as 'Mini-mart.'

How will city and state information be updated?

Some locations will be renamed, recategorized, or merged. For instance, 'Jelebu' will be renamed and reclassified as a township, now called 'Taman Jelebu.'

Are there updates to the projects and locations database?

Yes, we are updating the database with new projects and location details across Malaysia to ensure it reflects the latest developments on iProperty. Our updates are based on reliable sources such as Brickz (https://www.brickz.my/) and the Geo Portal (https://www.mygeoportal.gov.my/)  for comprehensive and up-to-date property and location information. This allows us to provide the most accurate data for your listings.

What is the reason for revamping the listing creation flow?

We are revamping the listing creation process to make it more efficient, which will change how you create property listings.

Will there be any impact on Area/Condo Specialists?

Specialist slots will be automatically updated based on the new city classifications.

How will these changes affect other property listings?

Location data and facility lists will be updated automatically. If a location cannot be identified, a warning/error will appear, allowing for a one-time edit. Otherwise, the listing will remain unchanged until it expires, but reposting will not be possible.

Will there be any impact on Market Analytics?

Yes, Market Analytics will be temporarily disabled from 28 October 2024 to 8 January 2025 for  updates with the latest location data.

Why is iProperty introducing Dynamic Pricing for new listings?

Being your trusted business partner, we are committed to creating a quality and trusted marketplace that matches agents’ listings to verified property seekers looking for authentic, relevant, and accurate listings. Dynamic Pricing creates a healthy and efficient property marketplace by discouraging fake, duplicate and poor-quality listings, thus ensuring authentic and quality listings can be matched to property seekers effectively.

Is this change necessary? What has iProperty done to improve the quality of listings on your platforms?

We’ve launched the Know-Your-Customer initiative (Gating of Enquiries) to ensure agents can be matched to verified, genuine and high-intent consumer leads. With our product commitments and Dynamic Pricing, we aim to increase the efficiency and quality in matching agents’ listings to property seekers, benefiting both agents and consumers.

I can't find a specific township in the dropdown fields, what should I do?

For listings outside of a township, agents can select the "My listing is not in any township" checkbox to disable the Township field.

You can also use the "Other" option in the Township field to input custom names. This option guided by validation rules to ensure accuracy.

Why is the Cross-Listing function disabled?

If you have selected the "Other" option in the Township field, or "My listing is not in any township", Cross-Listing will be unavailable. This is to ensure location data accuracy between both platforms.
